Design of the Thomson scattering system for a field-reversed configuration device

  • A Thomson scattering diagnostic system was designed for a field-reversed configuration (FRC) device. The system is anticipated to provide high-resolution measurements of the electron temperature (10 eV–10 keV) and density (1018–1021 m−3). A 100 kHz 1064 nm burst-mode laser was chosen to enable high-speed diagnostics. Fiber-coupled collection optics and a high-speed data acquisition system were integrated within the stringent spatial constraints of the experimental device. Dual-sided polychromators were designed through Zemax simulation. A simulated annealing algorithm was employed to determine the spectral channel boundaries of the five-channel polychromator over the electron temperature range of 0.5–10 keV. The simulated results demonstrate the system’s capability for accurate, high-sensitivity plasma diagnostics.
